About us

Perthshire Preserves has been part of Scotland’s food landscape for over a decade, known for small-batch jams, marmalades, jellies and chutneys made with care and skill using only the finest ingredients.

Founded by Iain Mackenzie and Kate Thornhill, the business grew from a love of good food and hospitality into a well-loved producer found at farmers’ markets and on breakfast tables across the country. Over time, the range became known for bold flavours, seasonal thinking and a refusal to cut corners.

In 2025, Iain and Kate took the decision to retire and pass Perthshire Preserves on to a Scottish social enterprise group, ensuring the business could move into its next chapter with strong values at its core.

A new chapter, same principles

While ownership has changed, the heart of Perthshire Preserves has not. The recipes, methods and commitment to quality remain central. Everything is still made in small batches, with a focus on flavour, balance and consistency — not mass production.

As part of a social enterprise group, Perthshire Preserves now also contributes to wider community and skills-based initiatives, helping ensure that good food can have a positive impact beyond the jar.

Looking ahead

Alongside a refreshed website designed to make online ordering simpler, we continue to trade at farmers’ markets, where customers can taste the range and stock up on favourites.

Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or are finding Perthshire Preserves for the first time, you’re very welcome here. We’re proud of where this business has come from — and thoughtful about where it’s going next.
